Lord, You Were There

You were there in the morning
As the dawn awakened all
You were there through-out the day

You were there in the evening
As day drew to close
And shuttered the sun away

You were there in the joy
Unexpected exuberance
Of life giving o'er to life

You were there in the darkness
The oppression surrounding
Amongst the crisis and strife

You were there when only
Just a small few stayed true
To love, to care for and to guide

You were there even when
I appeared to be abandoned
But you were right by my side

You were there
You were there
You were there

In the past and the present
In the here and the now
Oh Lord, you were there


Today is March 1, 2022 and these words were insisting upon being written.  A melody was also wandering around with these words. On many of our minds, our hearts and in our prayers is Ukraine.
